hi to you all

been reading through the posts with great interest, very informative and straight to the point, brilliant stuff.
one particular post has got me thinking though(not i thing i do often, i might add :? )
from bikergrrl back in may 2008,sprocket nut and washer gone!! , im very glad the outcome wasnt too serious and im sure all concerned are too.
has anyone heard of this happening on a z12 02 , i read they fitted a locking washer to later models anyone know from when they did this, me thinks i might check mine.

or am i being too paranoid

regards
peter

Greg will tell you about this :o

When I did my C&S I needed a dremel to remove my nut

Greg checked his on his 12 and it was finger tight IIRC :o I'm sure he'll fill you in later.

FTR I check mine about twice a year (more often if I put the 16T front sprocket on  )

Yep lined up my biggest breaker bar expecting a fight and the nut undid under the weight of the bar. Lucky the tab washer was in place. While your at it check the wheel bearings Peter, the originals fail early. Cams wear but don't affect performance it seems. Apart of these minor items it should last you.

Ive just changed my chain and sprogs and the front sprog nut was easy enough to undo, the locking tab washer holds it securely in place and if refitted correcty i cant see how it could losen its self, remove the cover for peace of mind but if it were loose it would not stay that way for long

I wouldn't go that far  .................... but it's amazing how much you can learn when you can't afford mechanic rates ;) especially when you blow out a gearbox
everything else after that has seemed child's play really

which brings it's own stresses after about 48hrs, Jo is great when I need to work on the bike indoors, but that gearbox job used up a lot of credit with her

yes i can understand youve used up a bit of credit there. you must have a very understanding woman to allow you to fix it indoors.

i am relagated to the shed, but its a mans shed, if you know what i mean  its full of junk of which i know every piece and location, if ever it was cleaned up id be knackered :D

i take it you didnt sit in the lounge then with the gearbox on the coffee table and wiping yr hands on the curtains???

peter
